Notes: Celebrates the iconic, retro gaming controller from 1985 with a steampunk twist. Frame was created from recycling a cedar fence from Marina Del Rey, CA. The directional pad is a Katanga cross, also called a handa, is a cast copper cross which was used as a form of currency in parts of what is now the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) in the 19th and early 20th centuries. During its period of currency, a Katanga cross would buy about 22 pounds of flour, five or six chickens or six axes, or five chickens and one ax. Two would buy a gun. A / B Buttons are exposed antique clock movements. Start / Select Buttons are vintage M-16 machine gun magazines. Aged 1/2" steel hairpins legs. Starphire glass top.

*As with all of our recycled timber pieces, all materials were painstakingly selected and assembled to maintain the timber’s natural patina. Lushear’s pioneering approach to the reclaimed style proves that precision craftsmanship is still achievable with difficult materials such as recycled timber.
